Caneda Transport is an International Transportation, Cross Docking, 3PL and Logistics Supply Chain Provider.
We have a diverse fleet consisting of company trucks, owner-operators, and a network of partner carriers. We are proud of being competitive with the large carriers without compromising attention to detail and personalized service.
The story of Caneda is a simple one. We started in 1975 as one truck hauling lumber. But, as with any successful company, there was hard work and a dream. And as the saying goes: “It takes teamwork to make the dream work”.
Caneda Forest Products Sales is founded and becomes incorporated in 1979.
Caneda starts hauling to California, lumber freight continues, reefer fleet added.
In the early 1990s, Caneda stopped their flat deck division which meant no more hauling lumber. The fleet fully migrated to reefer and soon discovered the LTL market. This began a direct connection to Canada and US. Caneda opened new terminals first in California, then Mississauga, and finally Edmonton.
Expanded the LTL Division into Dry Van. Leased almost 70 van trailers so Owner Operators did not have to bring their own equipment. On September 17, 1999 the land in Calgary, Alberta was purchased and continues to be Caneda’s base of operations.
Caneda stops hauling produce, but continues with temperature controlled reefers. This gave them the opportunity to move into the freight ‘Of all Kinds’ in order to diversify. During this time, Caneda also starts business in Intermodal and Logistics.
Caneda continues to diversify into Intermodal, 3PL and Logistics which has grown to 51% of Caneda’s business today. Consolidated operations by closing Edmonton Terminal.
Mullen Group Ltd. purchased Caneda on October 1, 2016.
Established Caneda Transport Ltd. and Caneda America Inc.
Caneda Specialized was added to the fleet, specializing in Temperature Controlled freight, including Ambient. Caneda moves into a new and bigger terminal in Mississauga, Ontario.
Caneda continues to diversify services in Transportation, Cross Docking, Logistics and Specialized.
Caneda is fully committed to the safety and wellbeing of our employees, owner operators, subcontractors, and the public all the while ensuring we uphold our commitment to protect the environment.
Safety is part of our culture. We have a very low claims ratio and we are very proud of our safety record. This allows us to provide you with excellent service! You can trust your freight to Caneda.
COR (Certificate of Recognition) is a health and safety management system. It is designed to help minimize the risk of injury or illness to workers. Each terminal has a health and safety committee that meets weekly. Our facilities and equipment are routinely inspected for safety compliance.
Our status as a C-TPAT and PIP certified supply chain provider, along with our FAST certification, not only allows for expedited clearance times at customs, but provides you with confidence in the security of your freight. As part of the security protocols for the US and Canada, video surveillance is required in our yards, buildings and cross dock facilities.
As the transportation industry evolves, so will Caneda.
We are thoughtful and care deeply about the success of our staff, our customers, the communities we are part of, and our environmental impact.
As SmartWay Transport Partners, we strive to achieve improved fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impacts from freight transport.
